Join us for this guided run organised in partnership with the Chiltern Society.

The route starts and finishes at Chesham train station and explores the River Chess, Captains wood and the surrounding areas.

There will be two distance options for this run to allow more people to join and to have a wider spread of abilities.

Route 1
A 16.2km run at a pace of around 6:30-45min/km. We will be aiming to complete this in 2h10.

Route 2
This is a 20.4km run with a slightly faster average pace of 6:00min/km. We will be aiming to complete this in around 2h20.

You don't need to decide which route you are doing until the day itself!

Getting there
If you're travelling from London either take the Metropolitan line to Chesham, or get the train to Chalfont & Latimer and change to the tube there - Tube trains only arrive every 30 minutes, so please plan your journey carefully.

As mentioned above there are two distances available for this run - 16.2km and 20.4km.

The routes are very similar, with the longer distance having a slightly later turn around point in Cholesbury.

The main highlights of the route are the chalk streams along the River Chess and the ancient beech woodland of Captain’s Wood.

Join us after the run for some post run refreshments!

If we can reserve an area we will, however we don’t formally book a table as this often requires a deposit/exact numbers. If the chosen pub/cafe is full or busy we will try somewhere else.

Trail running shoes

Wear appropriate shoes for uneven terrain & muddy conditions!


Carry at least 500ml of water with you.


You're unlikely to forget this but please remember to fully charge it.


Bring an energy gel, bar or some sugar to help refuel during the run.

Running pack or bag

You'll need something like this to carry everything in.


A sun hat for warm weather or a warm hat for cold weather.


In cold or wet conditions please bring gloves.


Carry a small amount of cash, you never know when it will be useful.
