The Chiltern Ridge Ultra Trail is our headline race which takes place on Saturday 9th May 2020.
This is the first of two discovery runs to explore the trails and check out the 50km ultra route.
The run starts at Tring train station and will head out onto The Ridgeway and Ashridge Estate covering a total distance of 18.6km.

This run is open for everyone, so don't worry if you're not signed up to the race.

This run has a pacing level of Medium.
During our medium paced runs the lead runner will average 6:00min/km (9:40min/mile)*.
For these runs it's important you have some experience running off road and are confident completing the distance at this pace.
*This pace will vary dependent on the terrain/elevation, so there are times when we go faster, slower & hike.

Our difficulty level reflects the amount of elevation you will encounter on the route and a measure of how tough/technical the terrain is.
Maps & elevation
This is a really stunning route with lots of amazing viewpoints over the Chiltern Hills.
The route is split into two sections, the first takes us along the Ridgeway National Trail and the second to the National Trust's Ashridge Estate.
The route is 18.6km in length and has some moderate undulation throughout - Be prepared to run up a few hills for this one.

Itinerary & meeting points
Please note: This itinerary assumes you are travelling via train from central London however we welcome runners from anywhere!
If you're driving, see below for parking details.
Please meet us outside Caffè Ritazza in Euston station.
Please aim to meet us at 08:40 to give plenty of time to make our way to the platform.
At Tring please make your way to the car park and wait by the exit of the footbridge.

Please meet the Runaway team at the meeting point 15-20mins prior to departure.
Driving & parking
There is plenty of parking available at Tring Station (charges apply).
Post run refreshments
The run will finish at Musette cafe for some post run food and refreshments.
If we can reserve an area we will, however we don’t formally book a table as this often requires a deposit/exact numbers. If the chosen pub/cafe is full or busy we will try somewhere else.
What to bring
Trail running shoes
Wear appropriate shoes for uneven terrain & muddy conditions!
Carry at least 500ml of water with you.
You're unlikely to forget this but please remember to fully charge it.
Bring an energy gel, bar or some sugar to help refuel during the run.
Running pack or bag
You'll need something like this to carry everything in.
A sun hat for warm weather or a warm hat for cold weather.
In cold or wet conditions please bring gloves.
Carry a small amount of cash, you never know when it will be useful.
